The main reason for a baby squirrel getting pneumonia is due to its feeder. The baby is getting too much formula at a time and it goes into its nose and lungs. The baby MUST be fed VERY slowly with a 1 cc syringe. Hold the baby in an up-right position, or if on its tummy, make sure its head is tilted up. Make sure the "push part" of the syringe is down. Here is a pic...

If you see formula coming out of the baby's nose, VERY gently, turn the baby upside down and let it run out of its nose, and wipe. The baby will have to be put on antibiotics IMMEDIATELY or it will die..

Symptoms of pneumonia...

1. Shortness of breath
2. Cough
3. Wheezing, clicking, cracking...You can hear all of these if you put the baby's chest up to your ear.
4. Labored breathing
5. Lethargy
6. Fever
7. Not Eating
8. Weight Loss

Any baby exhibiting these signs needs antibiotics right away.
